Adult class offerings – Fall 2009 Sunday “Going Deeper” will
meet at 8:30 am to 9:15am in room 123 (Bell Choir room) in the lower
level. This 5 week DVD based discussion group will journey with
Pastor Rob Bell touching on issues of today’s world. Active prayer and
compassionate conversation will be key ingredients.

“In the
Beginning” will meet at 9:15 in the Annex and will be studying the
familiar stories in the Book of Genesis to find new insights for living
today. No pre-reading will
be required. Contact
“Study the
Bible” looks at the sacred scriptures one book at a time to see how the
ancient words apply to our lives today.
This group meets 7:30-9:30pm in the home of Rich and Mary Ray. The”
Seekers” book study club resumes September 14th.
Please join us as we explore the ideas presented in the popular
book The Shack by William Paul
Young. All are welcome to
participate in our informal discussion and fellowship.
Contact Tuesday – church library 9:30am “Men with Tools” begins with a time of coffee, conversation and prayer, then offers the gift of light maintenance around the church building. They reconvene for lunch with Pastor John. Contact Ken VanBlaricum or Pastor John. Wednesday - W.O.W (Women of the Word) meets at 9:15 am Wednesdays in the fellowship hall (next to the kitchen). This gathering of crafty women whose focus is growing their relationships with Jesus, begins this fall with a study of specific words of wisdom from God’s love letter to humanity, the Bible. Pastor Sherry’s class -
Join Pastor Sherry in Bible study and
explore the people of the Book of Acts. The
Book of Acts is the story of the birth of the church. Discover
what members of the first church can teach us at First Church. If
you’ve never attended a bible study, you will find this a comfortable
entrance point. Pastor John will lead a class entitled True Self/False Self. In this study Father Richard Rohr suggests that the most problematic challenge that we face in the Western world as humans is the “false self”. Father Rohr suggests that the ‘false self’ is the not living out the true person that God created us to be. Rohr addresses the problems that the life of self-sufficiency and self-promotion have cause for us and he develops methods the overcome these philosophies. This group will meet for five weeks in room 201 (church library).

Enough is an invitation to rediscover the bible’s wisdom when it comes
to prudent financial practices. In these pages are found the keys
to experiencing contentment, overcoming fear, and discovering joy
through simplicity and generosity. This study could change your
life, by changing your relationship with money.
Drop-In anytime is a casual discussion group that requires no
pre-reading or preparation.
They will begin this year by looking at the social principles of The
United Methodist Church.
This will be a great opportunity to learn more about how our faith
intersects with the world and culture we live in.

Men of Faith – Meets Saturday’s beginning at 8:00am in the church
library. This diverse group of men will be studying the book “The
Good Book on Leadership, Case studies from the Bible” by Borek, Lovett
and Towns. The Bible provides fascinating case studies on
leadership, it contains every variety of leadership style and vision, a
close look at each personality reveals much about the character of
leadership
Friends in Faith meet at 5:30pm for at time of worship, prayer and bible
study. They delve
deeply into scripture while supporting each other in prayer.
