Upcoming Mission Opportunities:
January 9 - 23 - REACH - Our local rotating homeless shelter will be housed at Brighton First UMC - We have opportunities for all people to help feed, supervise, transport and more. Contact Mike Barrett 6453barrett@gmail.com
March 2012 - Port au Prince Haiti - King's Hospital - We are taking a medical team and a non-medical team to work at these facilities that include a hospital, orphanage and school. Tentatively scheduled for the week of March 11. Contact Suzy@brightonfumc.org for details.
May 12 - Change the World Day - the congregation and friends will be in mission to the people of Brighton. We will be serving our neighbors through various opportunities. Contact Suzy@brightonfumc.org for details
June 18 - 20 - CASS blitz - We'll be spending 3 days in the city of Detroit working at CASS community services. You will have the opportunity to travel home to sleep each evening, but will be making an impact on the city during the day. Contact Anne@brightonfumc.org
July 8-14 - Appalachia Service Project - This youth/young adult mission team will travel to Appalachia to work on making homes safer, drier and warmer. contact Sue Pethoud spethoud@comcast.net for additional information.
July 29-August 2 - Sault Ste. Marie/Kinross - This multigenerational team will have work for people of all ages and abilities. Come along and make a difference in the lives of the people in the upper peninsula. Contact Tracy Patrick at tracyt6591@yahoo.com
August 8 - 11 - CASS Overnight Blitz - We'll be spending 4 days at CASS community services, working to improve the lives of the urban poor during the day, and enjoying all the fun of city life as we will be spending the nights there. Contact Anne@brightonfumc.org
August 19-25 - Red Bird Mission - We'll be spending a week in Beverly Kentucky. The work is designed to match the skills of the team. Responsibilities can range from mending clothes in the free closet to repairing homes, cutting coupons, shelving goods in the food bank and more. September 27 -30 - Men's Appalachia Service Project - This group of men caravan down to Appalachia on motorcycles, in cars and vans to spend an extended weekend working on homes to make them safer, drier and warmer. Contact Mike Barrett 6453barrett@gmail.com
On Call for Mission - Early Response Teams - This group of men and women remain on call to respond to emergencies and natural disasters after emergency workers have left. They bring a unique set of skills ranging from listening to traumatized victims to clearing debris and stripping flood damaged houses. Contact Tracy Patrick tracyt6591@yahoo.com
