United Methodist Women (U.M.W.)

The organized unit of United Methodist Women (U.M.W.) shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The UMW unit of Brighton First UM church meets regularly to share together in food, faith & fun.  Opportunities for gathering include general membership meetings, circle meetings, hands on mission projects, field trips and fundraising events.  Membership is open to all women, from teen to adult.

General Meetings:  Our entire membership is invited to these meetings, which are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month (unless otherwise noted) in the basement fellowship hall of the church.  We usually begin at noon for lunch and include an educational program or activity, devotions and a short business meeting.  See below for monthly UMW calendar.

Circle Meetings:  Our unit consists of 4 smaller circles of women.  Each circle sets its own schedule of additional meetings or special programs for the year, in addition to the general meetings.

 Dorcas circle – Meets 1st Tue. each month at 7:00 p.m., in the Church Library (Formerly the Parlor).

 Phoebe circle – Meets 1st Thurs. each month at 7 p.m. at church or in a member’s home.

 Rebekah circle – Meets 1st Thurs. each month at 9:30 a.m. at church or in a member’s home.

 Sarah Lewis circle – Meets 1st Wed. each month at 9:30 a.m. at church.

 Sojourner Truth circle – Meets 1st Wed. each month at 1:00 p.m. at church.
