MOPS/MOMSnext (Mothers of Preschoolers) MOPS 2017 monthly meetings

MOPS/MOMS next begins Thursday, September 14th, 2017 from 9:00 am—11:25 am at Brighton First in our Community Room (upper level). Breakfast, crafts,  guest speakers, and most importantly, connection with other mothers! Monthly MOPS meetings are the 2nd Thursday’s of the month (except May, third week, May 17).  Volunteer or paid childcare helpers needed, call or email Kate Fick 502 294-1653 or

If you’ve never heard of MOPS or attended a meeting before, you’re in for a real treat. Imagine, two glorious hours of talking with adults only, and moms in the same stage of life as you nonetheless! It’s a much needed break every month from the daily demands of being a mom and running a household.

Monday Lunch ClubJoin us for the next “Monday Lunch Club.” The “Monday Lunch Club” is for anyone over the age of 55 (or close to 55)! Lunch starts at 12:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, followed with a speaker. RSVP not necessary. Email Deacon Loretta at or administrative assistant Wendy at with any questions

 Men of Faith-Saturdays at 8:30 am-Join this men’s group in the church library for coffee, food, fellowship & informal discussion. Led by John Phillips.

Men with Tools-Tuesdays in the library at 8:30 am. Begin the morning with a brief study, then join in fellowship and “handyman” work. No experience or skills required. Coordinated by Dan Welton.

Prayers and Squares(Prayer Quilts) Mondays at 9:00 am. Join the team that creates the prayer quilts our congregation gives to those in need of prayer and comfort. No sewing experience necessary. To contact coordinator Carol Riffe, click here.

Prayer Shawl KnittersMondays at 6:00pm. This group meets at Panera Bread (Brighton Mall, 8365 W. Grand River Ave.). Create beautiful prayer shawls & other items. Experienced & novice knitters are welcome. Coordinated by Donna Thompson

Women of the Word (WOW)Thursday mornings at 9:30, (except when MOPS is meeting). A time of fellowship, discussion and study. Discuss a variety of books, from bible studies to contemporary books. Discussion leads to discoveries about ourselves and our faith, as we connect with each other. Led by Hilary Bott.

United Methodist Women (UMW) of Brighton First is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. The UMW share together in food, faith & fun. Opportunities for gathering include general membership meetings, circle meetings, hands on mission projects, field trips and fundraising events. Membership is open to all women, from teen to adult.

Circle Meetings are usually once per month. Each circle sets its own schedule of additional meetings or special programs for the year, in addition to the monthly general meetings. For more information  on meeting times, contact Barb Terry, UMW president at
