You’re Invited on the Journey of Peace, Hope, Joy & Love
This advent season, you are invited to join The Journey of Peace, Hope, Joy and Love as we wait in anticipation for the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will praise God in song, light Advent wreath candles, study the story of our savior’s birth, and draw nearer to Christ and one another. This advent and Christmas season, may we also be encouraged to grow in our knowledge, love, and service towards God by supporting a variety of mission opportunities through our congregation, participating in a small group Advent study on The Journey: Walking the Road to Bethlehem by Adam Hamilton, and worshiping together in praise of God’s love through Jesus Christ. As we joyfully await our savior’s birth, may the peace, hope, joy and love of Christ be with you!
You’re invited to Advent Worship Services all month long.

Events & Missions
There are many ways to open your heart and prepare for Christmas. Find a mission, donate a coat, socks or mittens, come to a worship service. We look forward to sharing this special time with you.
Gifts of Hope
Dec. 5 Deadline
Gifts of Hope provides Christmas gifts for Livingston County foster children. You can sponsor a child by donating money, gift cards or shopping from a wish list. Each sponsorship is approximately $100 (you can participate at any giving level). Contact Mary Kushner to become a sponsor, firstname.lastname@example.org or 810-220-2820.
Deadline for dropping off gifts is Dec. 5 (foster families will pick up the gifts Dec. 10). Thank you for spreading hope this Christmas!
Hat & Mitten Tree
With your donations, the Christmas trees in the Brighton and Whitmore Lake Campuses will be adorned with new hats, scarves, mittens and gloves. At the end of the season the items will be distributed to people in need through local nonprofits.
Salvation Army Red Kettles
First United Methodist Church volunteers will be bell ringers at Salvation Army “red kettle” sites during the Christmas holiday season. Contact Agnes Hoshal if you are interested in volunteering.
Coats for Cass & St. Andrews
Dec. 2-4, the United Methodist Women’s Dorcas Circle are collecting new or clean, gently used coats (men’s, women’s and children’s) plus men’s long underwear and backpacks (new or in great condition). If you can volunteer to drive the donations to Cass Community Social Services the week of Dec. 6, that would be super helpful!
The United Methodist Women are collecting non-slip socks to give to the residents at Regency of Whitmore Lake. Our goal is 126 pairs of new socks so that every resident gets a new pair of socks by Dec. 18.
