Rev Loretta M. Job, Deacon

Director of Congregational Care

Send email to:

Married to Larry Job since 1983, I have a son Thomas currently living in Denver Colorado and a daughter Mary a junior at Wayne State University.  We have resided in Brighton since 1983. When I’m not in the office you might find me riding my motorcycle, weaving, reading, strolling through town or enjoying a great meal prepared by my husband.

I graduated from the University of Detroit/Mercy earning a BS in Health Services and worked as a Dental Hygienist for 15 years. I joined the staff here at First Church in July of 2000 and in April of 2001 I graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary receiving a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies.  As part of my seminary experience I did an internship at Angela Hospice in Livonia, doing spiritual care with the clients and their families. I attend Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston IL., taking courses related to spiritual formation, United Methodist Studies and pastoral care.  I was commissioned a probationary deacon on May 20, 2007 and will continue working toward full ordination during the next three years.

Here at First Church my duties are varied and include pastoral care, new member classes, baptism orientation, the welcome team, leading adult formation classes, women’s studies and the yearly women’s retreat.  Assisting with the training and renewal of our various lay ministries as well as helping individuals identify their spiritual gifts and use them in service to this church and the world. I especially enjoy talking to people about their relationship with God and helping them discover new avenues to deepen and expand that relationship.
