Scott Chrostek
Rev. Scott M.
Chrostek joins the staff at Brighton First after recently graduating
from Duke Divinity School in May of 2006. Both Scott and his
wife, Rev. Wendy Lyons-Chrostek (Duke Divinity ’06 graduate and
associate pastor at
Central United Methodist in Waterford), were commissioned as
Probationary Elders within the Detroit Annual Conference in May.
Wendy came to the Conference from Lake Arthur, LA, while Scott came
all the way from Birmingham, MI or “the real Birmingham” as he would
like Wendy to believe.
At the present
moment Scott is 27 years old, which means that he spent some time
working before entering Divinity School. Before enrolling he
spent most of his time within the investment sector. A student
of economics at the University of Michigan, he pursued a career with
Robert W. Baird & Co. in both metropolitan-Detroit and Milwaukee, WI.
Then, after two years Scott moved out east (Hartford, CT) to work with
the MassMutual Financial Group. During that same period of time
Scott also coached both boys and girls soccer at Birmingham Seaholm.
Most recently, Scott has spent the last two years working on staff at
the Duke University Chapel under the leadership of Bishop Wil Willimon,
Rev. Craig Kocher, and the current Dean, Rev. Canon Dr. Samuel Wells.

Other than
working in the local church, Scott enjoys getting outside as often as
possible to play tennis, soccer, and golf. He works out
regularly and he likes to camp, hike, and fish. Of course, it is
also important to note that above all other things (excluding the
church and his wife) Scott loves his Detroit Tigers, well, make that
every other Detroit Sports team as well.
He
is really excited about being back in Michigan and working in
Brighton, and we are in turn thrilled to have him here!
