SUMMARY:Youth Trip to Washington DC (deadline to apply)
DESCRIPTION:When: July 5-11 \nWho: youth ages 12-18 years old \nWhere: General Board of Church and Society \nEstimated Cost per person: about $1\,450 \nAbout the Trip: The Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church is excited to offer a unique opportunity for our youth to travel to Washington\, D.C. and experience the work of the church beyond the local community. During this trip\, students will partner with the General Board of Church and Society to learn about real-world social issues such as poverty\, justice\, and public policy. \nYouth will not only explore these topics but also gain practical skills in advocacy—learning how to thoughtfully and faithfully engage with leaders\, including how to communicate with a senator or their staff. \nIn addition to this hands-on learning\, we’ll have two days set aside to explore Washington\, D.C.—visiting historic landmarks\, monuments\, and museums while building community and making lasting memories together. \nThis trip is a powerful chance for students to grow in their faith\, deepen their understanding of the world\, and discover how they can make a meaningful impact. \nTo learn more\, please tell Pastor Lindsey and also contact Dokoda Holt-Sharp at dcyf@ludingtonumc.org by May 1 for more information. \nHere are the links to show your interest: \n\n\n\nParent – https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSePMxOlz1Rr_3R596IdROvKNpcQeITNH4-6Atj5u0VsgL4Pqw/viewform?usp=dialog \nYouth – https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScop9hr14wRc4BdTnjkFbmbHVo6lr3xXlwz1AVIQGLwnJ3t7Q/viewform?usp=dialog

SUMMARY:Unclobber Book Study
DESCRIPTION:Pastor Jon Reynolds leads this five-week book study. Are you curious about what the Bible has to say about human sexuality and why people understand it differently? The book “UnClobber” re-examines six frequently quoted passages of Scripture — often called the “clobber passages.” The author invites us to look closely at what the Bible says (and does not say) about homosexuality in such a way that breathes fresh life into assumptions and interpretations.\n\nRegister online

SUMMARY:Standing Firm with Author Colby Martin
DESCRIPTION:Brought to you by LivFaith\, a community action committee of the Livingston Diversity Council. With a focus on how Scripture points to diversity and inclusion\, “Standing Firm” invites you to embody the ways of Jesus\, while also equipping you to engage with friends\, family\, and a society that is unkind and unwelcoming to LGBTQ people. If you are LGBTQ-affirming and hunger for ways to live out your faith in a world that is growing more and more anti-LGBTQ\, “Standing Firm is for you.”Colby Martin has been a pastor for nearly 25 years. \nThough he began in the evangelical world\, since 2011 Colby has pastored in primarily progressive Christian spaces\, advocating for a Christianity rooted in the way of Jesus\, grounded in love\, and open to all people. As the author of two books (UnClobber\, and\, The SHIFT)\, Colby currently travels the country as a speaker and preacher. In 2024 he founded The UnClobber Initiative\, a ministry dedicated to elevating LGBTQ inclusive theology. \n4:00 PM – Doors Open\n4:30 PM – Program\n6:00 PM – Fellowship & Refreshments\n6:30 PM – Next Steps \n\n\n\nRegistration recommended: Register online\n\n\nContact Suzanne Everett
