Bring your lunch. \nCass Community Social Services meets people in need\, where they are in life\, by offering food\, affordable housing\, skill building\, and vocational training which promotes self-sufficiency\, on a sustainable pedestrian campus and as part of the larger community. \nThe ways First UMC volunteers have served includes: \n\ncleaned\, mended and painted rooms for affordable housing\nset up beds for warming centers\nweeded gardens\, trimmed shrubs\, planted trees and flowers\, mowed grass and cleaned outside to beautify and make areas safer for residents\nprepped mass quantities of bacon and eggs for breakfast\, assembled sandwiches and packaged lunches to feed the community\nsorted and shredded paper to recycle and raise money for fighting poverty.

DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by the Livingston Faith and Race Project and hosted at Howell First UMC. What does scripture have to say about races\, tribes\, and coexistence? In a time of resurgent racism\, antisemitism and nationalism\, Dr. Elliot Ratzman\, a research fellow at the University of Michigan\, explores the history of how some Christians and Jews have used and abused religion for violence and exclusion.  What can we learn from religious and secular groups about alternative paths forward\, embracing love and celebrating diversity? \nFollowing his presentation local religious leaders will comment on how our community finds our path forward today. DESCRIPTION:August 10-15 @9 am-3 pm & August 16@ 8:30 am-12 pm\n\nMusical Theater Camp is available for students entering 2nd through 9th grades.  Young People’s Worship Arts event are led and directed by Susan Kimball\, Music Director First UMC and Carola Snow\, Communications Director at Sycamore Creek UMC. Susan has over 25 years experience Directing  and Voice.
