DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the Detroit Institute of Arts to explore Native American art and film. \n\nWe will carpool from the Brighton Campus parking lot at 10:30 am and see the exhibit: “Contemporary Anishinaabe Art: A Continuation.”\n\n\nEnjoy lunch at the DIA Cafe (bring $$\, see below) and then at 2pm\, we will attend a lecture led by filmmaker Ishkuaazhe Shane McSauby who will introduce three of his short films.\n\nMuseum admission $20/person ($10 for seniors) includes the exhibits and films\, please RSVP below but you’ll pay for your ticket at the museum.\n\nReturn to church approximately 5pm.\n\nCafé DIA is a cafeteria-style restaurant that offers a menu of fresh foods including daily house-made soup or chili\, a grab & go bar\, traditional grill favorites\, and pizza. DESCRIPTION:SIGN UP \n\nThe volunteer work varies month to month. Contact Laura Kelly to learn more. Depart from the Brighton Campus parking lot at approximately 8 am to travel together to Detroit and return by approximately 4 pm. Bring your lunch. \nCass Community Social Services meets people in need\, where they are in life\, by offering food\, affordable housing\, skill building\, and vocational training which promotes self-sufficiency\, on a sustainable pedestrian campus and as part of the larger community. \nThe ways First UMC volunteers have served includes: \n\ncleaned\, mended and painted rooms for affordable housing\nset up beds for warming centers\nweeded gardens\, trimmed shrubs\, planted trees and flowers\, mowed grass and cleaned outside to beautify and make areas safer for residents\nprepped mass quantities of bacon and eggs for breakfast\, assembled sandwiches and packaged lunches to feed the community\nsorted and shredded paper to recycle and raise money for fighting poverty.

SUMMARY:St. Andrews Breakfast Volunteers
DESCRIPTION:First United Methodist Church provides volunteers for the Breakfast Program at St. Andrews in Ann Arbor about once a month. Volunteers may prepare hot food\, set up serving stations\, serve food to guests\, clear trays\, wash and dry dishes and clean up the kitchen. Depart Brighton at 6 am (or meet at St. Andrews at 7 am). Tasks are completed by 9 am. \n\nThe Breakfast Program at St. Andrew’s (Ann Arbor) serves between 90 and 150 meals daily. Guests include the young and old. They arrive as individuals or in groups. Some are experiencing homelessness or struggling with addiction or mental illness\, and most are working men and women who are trying to make ends meet.\n\nSign up
