Dr. Tendai Manyeza is a General Board of Global Ministries Missionary, serving as medical doctor of the United Methodist Church Hospital in Kissy, Sierra Leone. He says, “I am in the healing ministry because God has a purpose for me in that ministry. I believe I am still operating in God’s plan by responding to this all to mission. I shall do my best to serve my God and all people he assigns me to serve.” Tendai is from Zimbabwe. He and his wife, who is also a missionary in Sierra Leone, have four children.
Dr. Manyeza serves in Freetown, Sierra Leone at the United Methodist Church Hospital. Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa with very high maternal and child mortality rates. This is mainly due to the reduced skilled manpower in the area of maternal-child health to give evidence-based diagnostic treatment and followup services to the patients. Dr. Manyeza complements the staff already providing those services. He says, “I’m happy to say that in the last five years we’ve not had any maternal or child deaths at the institution. I would like to thank you all for choosing to support me as God uses me as his hands and feet to transform UMC hospital through mission work. I thank you.”
First United Methodist Church – Brighton & Whitmore Lake entered into a covenant relationship with Dr. Tendai Menyeza in February 2026. Through this act of love and faith this church will support Dr. Menyeza’s work through prayer, other acts of mission and financial support. Our goal is to provide a minimum support of $7,000 per year.
GBGM missionaries’ salaries are paid by the Board, but $25,000 of that salary is expected to be raised through covenant relationships with churches and/or individuals. That covenant includes support through prayers, gifts, witness, and service.
Your gifts can be designated for Dr. Menyeza online, through your giving envelopes or the designated mission envelopes found in the sanctuary. Thank you for supporting Dr. Menyeza, and healthy families in Sierra Leone.
