First United Methodist Church – Brighton and Whitmore Lake uses a simplified structure for its governing board, fulfilling the required roles and responsibilities of church council (administrative board), trustees, finance, and staff/pastor-parish relations. This leadership board is elected by members of the church and members serve staggered three-year terms.
The board oversees the mission, core values, and strategic plan of the church. Management and mission teams implement day-to-day activities. The leadership board meetings are open and held at 6 pm (Brighton Campus Library).
