Supporting Girls and Women Around the World

Days for Girls is an international movement and organization to increase access to menstrual care and education by mobilizing volunteers and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls.

The FUMC-Brighton Days for Girls chapter (sponsored by the United Methodist Women-UMW) organizes volunteers to sew components to the Days for Girls washable, reusable feminine hygiene kits that allow women and girls to go to school, work and live their lives during their periods. Volunteers sew, press, cut and assemble drawstring bags and flannel liners for the kits.

We will be focusing on making the flannel liners this year. Each kit contains 8 liners so these are needed most. Right now the donation needs are:

  • Washcloths
  • Dark-colored flannel fabric (at least 3 yards), the flannel can have a print but no animals, insects, cartoons, birds, etc.

Please note: we do not need any cotton fabric at this time.
