Six Goals for 2025-2027

Strategic Plan

In 2024, the Leadership Board created a Task Force to listen to the congregation to prioritize the strategic goals of First United Methodist Church-Brighton and Whitmore Lake for 2025-2027. This document is the result of two in-person and one virtual listening session, as well as written surveys, totaling input from approximately 80 church members or 22% of the congregation.

The task force recognizes the many strengths of our congregation both within our church family and how we share Christ’s Love with our local, regional, and global communities through the wide variety of missions and ministries we support. We recognize the many strengths of the elders of our church, including the mentorship of aspiring seminarians.

Through this process six goals were identified and adopted for a three-year strategic plan. Many thanks to everyone who gave feedback via the listening sessions  and survey and to the hard-working Strategic Plan task force. Download pdf

Part of our Strategic Plan “Goal 6”  is to develop a welcome or belonging statement that quickly lets people know if they would be welcomed and included in the ministries of First UMC as they are searching for a church home. Your answers will help the Welcome Statement team complete its task. Please submit one digital or paper form Jan. 4 -Jan. 11.

Additionally, three listening sessions will be held to help the welcome statement team gain valuable feedback to craft language that feels appropriate for the church.
