Cass Community Social Services, a nonprofit in Detroit connected with Cass Community United Methodist Church, needs volunteers for a variety of tasks. April 6 has been designated by First UMC as Super Sized Saturday so we can pour our love on Cass with a big group of volunteers to make a difference in their poverty-fighting, opportunity-creating ministry. There will be a variety of projects for you to participate in. All skill levels and abilities are welcome. We will meet at the church at 8 am to caravan to Cass. Come volunteer as an individual, couple or with your family (please bring your own lunch). We will return to the church by 4 pm. Come for part of the day if you can’t make it for the whole day.
Possible work teams include:
- light maintenance/repair projects
- kitchen help (preparing food, packing lunches, cleaning up, etc.)
- outdoor landscaping (weather permitting)
- sorting donations, packing food boxes
- shredding paper
