MISSION OF THE YEAR

Water for Life

About 75% of Liberians do not have access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities. Most residents are drinking from unsafe sources of water and do not have access to standard toilets facilities. The Water for Life project is a grassroots initiative and seeks to address the water and sanitation needs of the affected communities through the construction of wells/hand pumps and toilet facilities within communities, establishment of community structures and leadership to supervise water access, mobilizing, training, and educating communities on water and sanitation, and promoting the rights to access clean and safe drinking water and good sanitation. Watch video now.
First UMC – Brighton & Whitmore Lake is committed to raising $20,000 and gathering partners to help purchase a portable well-drilling auger and truck suitable for the rugged Liberian terrain. This sustainable approach will help not just drill one well, but provide resources toward drilling many wells throughout the region.

Pastor Jon is raising money through bike rides, contact him to learn more. You are invited to give toward this mission as you are able.
